SUGGESTIONS FOR PROJECTS

SMJK POI LAM, IPOH, PERAK ( MALAYSIA )

Any suggestion for the Green Tourism Project in this iEARN Learning Circle Wikispace created by SMJK Poi Lam, Ipoh, Malaysia would be most welcomed. To begin with, we definitely look forward to seeing our global Project Partners taking the initiatives to provide suggestions here as we believe in the power of a global voice if we are to raise awareness about green tourism as a way to help address the issues pertaining to climate change that is affecting everyone in the world. Owing to the seriousness of this global problem of climate change, we would, therefore, like to suggest that our Green Tourism Project be given the support to be further developed as an on-going project. On our part, SMJK Poi Lam would like to propose the following ideas:

1. To widen our learning circle by inviting other schools around the world to join us in this call for Green Tourism as a way to help teach people to love Mother Earth through travelling. It is only when we learn to love nature that we will do something to show our love for Mother Earth - the oceans, the continents, the animals, the plants, the people, etc.

2. To invite any government, non-governmental organisations or companies to take the lead in supporting our Green Tourism Project by giving us a statement of endorsement in this Green Tourism Project wikispace itself.

3. To be considered for funding or grant applications by governments or companies to help us promote learning through eco-tourism trips. And in return, we will do our part to help educate the public through activities organised by us e.g. choral speaking, organising 'go green' activities, etc.

4. To launch and celebrate 'Green Tourism Day' by encouraging schools to visit places where students and teachers can get close to nature and organise fun-filled activities which revolves around the theme of 'Go Green'.

5. To open up the discussion page for interaction among project partners as we were not able to do so earlier due to the different school holiday challenge faced by us and our project partners.

6. Other suggestions ( to be added on later )
